Nicky Brier

I’m Nicky, a textile artist working from my home studio in Cheshire.

I studied woven textile design, and for over 30 years I’ve been drawn to colour, texture and how materials work together. Much of my inspiration comes from the outdoors, from my own garden to walks in the hills, where natural shapes and details find their way into my work.

My work begins as loose wool fibre, built up by hand using soft needle-felted wool and refined over time through a process of trial, adjustment and careful making. Each design is finished with my signature zip edging, adding structure and a subtle glint of contrast to the soft wool.

From these original artworks, I create handmade brooches, greeting cards and a small collection of gifts, allowing the designs to be worn, treasured and shared in different ways.

My work is stocked in a small number of independent shops, including the National Trust shop at Tatton Park in Cheshire, and I also sell directly to customers across the UK and beyond.

Whether it’s your first piece or another addition to your collection, every design is made by hand in my Cheshire studio with care and attention to detail, bringing together colour, texture and a crisp, contemporary feel.
